How to use Virtual Writing Tutor?

Introduction

Hi, friends. I have got a great video for you today. If you don't already know, my name is Livia and I am studying graphic design at Cégep de Sherbrooke for about two years now. Graphic design is a profession where the goal is to create different visual communication materials by combining text and images for a company that wants a new visual identity.

Nobody wants to have embarrassing errors in their writing. Watch this video because it will help you improve your English.

I'm far from being the best at English. I always had difficulty with this language, but now I have the skills to become and be better!

I have been working on my English in my free time for a year now in order to improve it.

My goal for this video is to present you a tool that has really helped me with my English.

It is going to only take about 4 minutes, so get ready to follow my little step-by-step tutorial.

It is amazing what you can do with the website I’m going to show you.

The Problem

Let me explain the problem. In graphic design, we will possibly be dealing with clients who only speak English. We will need to communicate with the client by oral or phone, but also by email, which means that spelling mistakes are also important.

If you make a bad impression on the client, this will not make him want to sign another contract with you. Your credibility begins with your spelling and the way you speak. Also, it's necessary that the client understands what you're saying.

For example, imagine that you are on the phone with an English-speaking client. You are trying to explain why you chose certain colors or fonts, but you don't have the right words and your sentences aren't very clear. The client doesn't fully understand your ideas and starts to lose confidence in your work.

In the next few minutes, I am going to show you how improving your professional English using the Virtual Writing Tutor can help you communicate better and build trust with your clients.

The Quest

First, open your browser. Type Virtual Writing Tutor in the address bar and press Enter. If it works, you should see this page.

Here, in the top of the corner, you can see the Virtual Writing Tutor logo. Just below it, you will find the navigation menu. In the middle of the page, there is a text area where you can copy and paste or just right a text to check your spelling mistakes.

The Solution

Now, I am going to show you exactly how it works. As I mentioned before, you can copy and paste a text into this box or type directly in it. For this examples, I am going to write "Hi, my name is Livia", and I will intentionally make a grammatical mistake. Click on "Check Grammar" in the top of the left corner, and the application will tell you how many words and paragraphs are written, as well as the number and percentage of errors, so you can correct them. Finally, if you want to know the pronunciation of your words, you just need to click on the small sound icon in the bottom right corner.

The Conclusion

So, if you are in graphic design or a related field, this is how you can improve your English and present yourself professionally to your clients.

Before I finish, please subscribe and click the bell, so you don't miss my next video. Thanks for watching.
